Create 'Out of Office' Reply Microsoft Entourage does not provide an 'Out of Office Assistant' for setting an automatic response to messages you receive while you are out of the office; however, it is possible to set up such an automatic response in one of three ways. Entourage 2008 now includes Out of Office. Please make sure your reply does not get sent to any mailing lists as a mail loop can result and make you very unpopular! Use Outlook Web Access Use the Out of Office Assistant in. You can enable or disable the Out of Office Assistant in OWA from any computer with internet access while you are on or off campus. In Entourage, go to the Tools menu, and click Rules. In the Rules window, click Mail (Exchange). To disable the Out of Office rule, uncheck the box next to it. Use a third party application the donationware Out Of Office application from the nukethemfromOrbit.com website and use it to set the Out of Office message from a Mac OS X 10.4 computer.
If you don't have an Exchange mailbox, you'll need to replicate it's actions using Rules Wizard, or better yet, use your email server's 'vacation reply' feature to send out-of-office replies. When you use Rules Wizard to send Out-of-office replies, Outlook needs to be running and checking mail regularly for the reply to be sent.
Using your server's 'vacation reply' feature allows the response to be sent when the message arrives, not when Outlook downloads it. Inbox and Outbox Assistant commands are grayed out The Inbox Assistant and Outbox Assistant features are for Exchange mailboxes only and therefore, work only if you connect to Microsoft Exchange Server.
